Conab Increases Corn Estimate to 131.9 mt, Trims Soy to 169.5 mt

In their July Crop Report, Conab is estimating the 2024/25 Brazilian corn production at 131.9 million tons, which is up 3.72 million from their June estimate. The first corn crop is estimated at 24.9 million tons, the safrinha crop is estimated at 104.5 million, and the third crop is estimated at 2.5 million. This represents an increase of 14.3% or 16.5 million tons more than the 2023/24 crop. Compared to 2023/24, the first crop is up 8.5% and the safrinha crop is up 16.1%.

For soybeans, Conab is estimating the 2024/25 Brazilian crop at 169.5 million tons, which is down slightly from last month. The nationwide soybean yield is estimated at a record 3,560 kg/ha (53.0 bu/ac). The highest yields were recorded in the state of Goias at 4,122 kg/ha (61.4 bu/ac) with the lowest yields coming from the state of Rio Grande do Sul at 2,084 kg/ha (31.0 bu/ac).

The Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea) increased their yield estimate of the 2024/25 safrinha corn crop to 126.25 sacks per hectare (120.4 bu/ac) which is 7.2% higher than last month and 9.2% higher than last year. The total corn production for the state is now estimated at a record 54.02 million tons, which is up 14.5% compared to last year. Farmers in Mato Grosso have sold 51% of their anticipated 2024/25 corn production.
