Safrinha corn in Brazil was 22% planted as of late last week compared to 20% last year according to AgRural. This represents an advance of 9% for the week. The first corn crop in Brazil was 15% harvested as of late last week compared to 9% last year.

Mato Grosso - Safrinha corn in Mato Grosso was 28.3% planted as of late last week compared to 23.4% last year and 35.5% average. This represents an advance of 12.7% for the week. The most advanced planting is in the mid-north region where 38% of the corn has been planted.

Imea estimated that 77% of the safrinha corn would be planted within the ideal planting window compared to an average of 85%. That window closes about February 20th, which is only two weeks away. Given the current wet conditions in the state, there is a high probability that less than 77% of the safrinha corn will be planted before the ideal window closes. Below is the safrinha corn planting progress in Mato Grosso as of February 6, 2026 from the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics.

Parana - Safrinha corn in Parana was 12% planted as of earlier last week compared to 28% in 2025 and 32% in 2024. This represents an advance of 6% for the week. The first corn crop in the state was 4% pollinating, 47% filling grain, 49% mature, 10% harvested and rated 0% poor, 6% average, and 94% good.

Rio Grande do Sul - Hot and dry conditions in the state have accelerated corn drydown and the crop is now 35% harvested. Corn yields are highly variable depending on planting date. Early planted corn got ahead of the dryness, whereas late planted corn was hit hard by hot and dry conditions during pollination and grain filling. Irrigated corn yields are high, while dryland yields are disappointing.
