Brazilian Weather - Cool and Wet South, Hot and Dry Central

In general, the weather in Brazil has been cool and wet in southern Brazil and hot and dry in central Brazil. Cold fronts have continued to move into southern Brazil bringing with them periodic showers and cold temperatures. There have been isolated frosts in southern Brazil as recently as last weekend. Soil temperatures in southern Brazil are still on the cool side, but the moisture is adequate for germination.
The weather in central Brazil continues to be generally hot and dry. I many areas of central Brazil, the last significant rainfall was in April. In Mato Grosso for example, the first summer rains are forecasted for some time during the second half of September. Farmers in central Brazil usually like to wait until they receive at least two inches of rain before they start planting their soybeans.
